Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn are first in Virginia to feature new high-end design concepts.
Richmond, Va. (September 24, 2008) – Shamin Hotels is excited to announce the addition of two new hotels in the Colonial Heights/Southpark area; a Holiday Inn and a Hampton Inn. The Hampton Inn celebrates its grand opening today, September 24th, and the Holiday Inn officially opened on June 23, 2008. These two new hotels join another Shamin property in Colonial Heights, a Hilton Garden Inn. Shamin Hotels also owns and operates two hotels in Hopewell and two hotels in Chester creating a tri-city organization of Shamin properties along the rapidly growing Richmond – Petersburg corridor on Interstate 95. These hotels are two of the eighteen properties Shamin Hotels is building over the next two years, nearly doubling its portfolio to more than 36 hotels.

The Hampton Inn is the first hotel in Virginia with the latest innovations introduced by Hilton, particularly the "Perfect Mix Lobby”, a design concept that offers a unique opportunity to provide a space to guests that meets their needs beyond the traditional breakfast hours. The lobby is designed to create an atmosphere that promotes guest socialization and adds an amenity by providing guests an extension of their rooms. The space is transformed during different times of the day to the appropriate mood setting and utilizes a zoned approach to define unique spaces and provide additional seating. Bottom line, the “Perfect Mix Lobby” says “We love having you here” - all day long.
The Holiday Inn is also a first in Virginia, being the first Holiday Inn to feature the company’s re-branding features, both in design and presentation.
The new full-service Holiday Inn is the first Holiday Inn for Colonial Heights and will offer 143 deluxe rooms, a business center, a fitness center, an indoor pool, a lobby bar and restaurant, an on-site market shop, and 6000 square feet of flexible space including a 3,195 square foot ballroom, divisible by three to accommodate meetings and events - no matter what the size. Located next door to the Holiday Inn, the 70,375 square foot Hampton Inn offers 129 deluxe rooms, a business center, a fitness center, an indoor pool with hot tub, and a 578 square foot meeting room. The Hampton Inn also offers its “On the Run Breakfast Bag. Both hotels offer complimentary high-speed Internet access.
The Holiday Inn and the Hampton Inn are both located on the picturesque Appomattox River – a perfect setting for weddings and indoor/outdoor events. The side-by-side 6 story buildings will also be the two tallest buildings in the Colonial Heights/Southpark area.
A special grand opening celebration of these hotels is scheduled for October 9, 2008. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. and a reception will follow.
